Pausing or deleting your account

These are very different things, and only one of them is reversible. Both live in Settings → Visibility.

Pausing

Pausing hides you from discovery. Your profile, posts, matches and conversations all stay exactly as they are, and nothing is deleted.

Use it when you want to stop being found for a while — you're seeing someone, you're busy, you just want quiet. Turn it back on whenever you like and you pick up where you left off.

If you only want to reduce your visibility rather than disappear, see Privacy and visibility — you may not need to pause at all.

Deleting

Deleting removes your account. Your profile leaves discovery immediately and you're signed out.

There's a grace period before anything is erased: sign back in during that window and the deletion is cancelled, with everything intact. After it passes, your data is removed and it cannot be recovered — support can't undo it, because by then there's nothing left to restore.

The exact timeline is on the delete-account page, which is also where you can start a deletion from the web if you can't get into the app.

Before you delete

Two things worth knowing:

• Cancel your subscription separately if you pay through the App Store or Google Play. Deleting your Ontryst account does not cancel a store subscription — that's held by Apple or Google, and it will keep renewing. See Plans and purchases.
• Download your data first if you want it. Once erasure completes, it's gone.

If it's about one person

You don't have to leave. Blocking removes someone from your discovery and stops them contacting you, and reporting sends it to moderation. See Privacy and visibility.
