Going live

A live broadcast puts you in front of people nearby in real time. Viewers can comment, react, and ask to join you on screen.

Starting a broadcast

From the feed, use the live button. Before you go on you'll see:

• A camera preview — this is your actual camera, so use it to check framing and light.
• Mic and camera toggles — either can be off before you start.
• A title — what you're up to. It's what people see in the list.
• A category — helps the right people find you.

Then start the broadcast. Your matches and people nearby are notified.

While you're live

• Comments appear over the video as they arrive.
• Viewers can ask to join. Accepting puts them on screen with you; you can mute or remove them at any time.
• The viewer count is live.

Ending the broadcast asks for confirmation, because it can't be undone — ending it drops everyone watching.

If the camera preview is black

• Check that Ontryst has camera permission in your phone's settings. The preview offers to request it if it hasn't been granted.
• Make sure the camera toggle isn't off.
• Close any other app using the camera. Only one app can hold it at a time.

If nobody sees you

People are notified based on proximity and matches. A broadcast at a quiet hour, or with a very tight discovery radius, will have a small audience. It isn't a fault.

What's allowed

Live is held to the same standards as everything else, and it's public by nature. Nudity and sexual content are not permitted — see the Community Rules. Broadcasts can be reported by viewers while they're running.
