I didn't get my sign-in code

What to do when the one-time code doesn't arrive, and what happens if you enter it wrong too many times.

I didn't get my sign-in code

Ontryst doesn't use passwords. You sign in with your phone number, and we send you a one-time code each time. If the code doesn't arrive, it's almost always one of the things below.

Check the number you entered

The code goes to the number exactly as typed, including the country code. A number entered without its country code, or with the wrong one, will send the code somewhere else entirely — and nothing will tell you that happened.

Go back a step and confirm the number, digit by digit.

The code takes a moment

Delivery depends on your mobile network, and at busy times it can take a minute or two. Wait before requesting another one — each new request invalidates the previous code, so requesting repeatedly can leave you typing a code that's already dead.

The code expires

A code is only valid for a short window after it's sent. If you've been away from the screen, request a fresh one rather than typing the old one.

Too many wrong attempts

After several incorrect codes in a row, sign-in is locked for a short period. This protects your account from someone guessing their way in. Wait it out — the lock lifts on its own, and there's nothing to reset.

If you changed your number

The code goes to the number on the account. If you no longer have that SIM, you can't receive it, and we can't move an account to a new number from your side alone. Contact support and we'll verify you another way.

If this didn't help, tell support

Write to us from the app if you can still get in, or email support@ontryst.com with:

  • the full phone number including country code, as you typed it
  • whether you're on iPhone, Android, or the web
  • roughly when you last tried
  • whether you saw an error on screen, and what it said

With the number and a rough time, support can check whether the code was actually sent and what the network did with it.
