Creating your account
You need a phone number and a few minutes. There's no password to invent or remember.
How sign-in works
Ontryst uses a one-time code instead of a password. You enter your phone number, we text you a short code, and you type it back. Every time you sign in, that's the flow.
This means there's no password to leak, forget or reuse from another site. It also means the phone number on the account matters: it is your way back in. If you're going to change numbers, do it while you can still receive codes on the old one.

What you're asked for
Signing up walks through a few steps:
- Your name — what people see. It doesn't have to be your legal name.
- Your birthday — Ontryst is 18+, and this is how that's enforced. It isn't shown as a date; only your age appears on your profile.
- Your gender, and who you're hoping to meet.
- A photo. You can add more later, and a profile with no photo gets very little attention.
You can change all of it afterwards except your birthday.
Where you can use it
The same account works on iPhone, Android and the web — sign in with the same number and everything follows you. Device requirements and store links are on the download page.
After signing up
Two things make the biggest difference immediately:
- Finish your profile. See Completing your profile.
- Allow notifications. Otherwise you'll only discover messages by opening the app. See I'm not getting notifications.
Age and conduct
Ontryst is for adults, 18 and over. Accounts that appear to belong to minors are removed. What is and isn't allowed is set out in the Community Rules, and the Terms of Service cover the rest.
