Zones
What Zones are, how to join or be invited to one, and who can create them.
Zones
A Zone is a group built around a shared interest or place — the part of Ontryst that isn't one-to-one. They're the easiest way to meet people without messaging anyone directly first.
Joining
Browse Zones from the Zones tab and join one that fits. Once you're in, its posts appear in your feed alongside everything else, and you can post into the Zone yourself.
There's no limit on how many Zones you can be in — Ontryst is free right now, so nothing here is capped. See Is Ontryst free?.
Invites
Zones can be shared with an invite link. Opening one shows you the Zone before you commit, so you can see what it actually is rather than joining blind.
An invite link opens the app if you have it installed, and the web version if you don't.
Posting in a Zone
Posting into a Zone shows your post to its members. It's a good way to be seen by people who share an interest with you but aren't in your immediate area — the ordinary radius rules of discovery don't limit a Zone.
Creating a Zone
Anyone can create and host a Zone — it's free like everything else at the moment.
If you host one, you're responsible for what happens in it. Keep it within the Community Rules.
Leaving
Leave from the Zone's menu. Leaving stops its posts appearing in your feed; anything you already posted there stays unless you delete it.
